This 'snags and solutions' book provides guidance for those electrical contractors carrying out earthing and bonding as part of their electrical installation work. It does this by addressing a series of typical problem areas and misconceptions that the electrician routinely comes across.
Earthing and bonding is an integral part of the widely used protective measure of automatic disconnection of supply (ADS) - previously called earthed equipotential bonding and automatic disconnection of supply (EEBADS). A fundamental purpose of ADS is to limit the magnitude and duration of the voltage between exposed conductive-parts of a circuit and other exposed-conductive or extraneous-conductive parts so as to prevent danger.
One part of ADS is fault protection which is provided by protective earthing, protective equipotential bonding and automatic disconnection in case of a fault, in accordance with Regulations 411.3 to 6.
This handy pocket-sized book contains 45 snags and solutions detailing such issues as main equipotential bonding, supplementary bonding and instances where there may be inadequate means of earthing. Every snag and corresponding solution is dearly illustrated and includes reference to the relevant regulatory requirement of BS 7677: 2018 where applicable.
