This Guide has been produced by Certsure LLP in order to assist learners working towards a qualification that demonstrates they are aware of the requirements and content of the UK national standard for the safety of electrical installations BS 7671:2078 - Requirements for Electricaf Installations (IET Wiring Regulations - lath Edition).
A number of examination bodies including City and Guilds and EAL Awards have developed such qualifications, which may be taken while attending a further education college or private training provider, or via an online training facility.
Such qualifications and associated training are aimed at those already working in the electrical contracting industry or those in an associated role where a sound knowledge of the requirements of BS 7677 is required.
Learners taking on such study are expected to have relevant formal qualifications & work experience based on earlier editions of BS 7677. These 18th Edition qualifications are not suitable or sufficient on their own for claiming competence in electrical installation work. Those new to the electrical contracting industry should seek advice to help them find more appropriate qualifications and training opportunities.
This Guide follows the structure of the examinations which themselves are, in the most pert, closely aligned to the order in which requirements appear in BS 7671.
Whilst it might summarise key content of the various parts of BS 7677, this Guide does not provide in-depth coverage of the standard and how to apply it. However, Certsure LLP produces a wide range of publications designed to give more in-depth guidance to assist those working in the electrical industry. Details of Certsure's publications relating to the application of BS 7677 can be found in Appendix 1 of this Guide.
